About Me
My name is Rebecca and I'm known as Stray Wind online. I picked the name Stray Wind originally for my Livejournal because I wanted something that could represent the fact that I'm a bit of an oddball who walks to the beat of my own drum. As a basic biography, I was born, raised and reside in Toronto, Canada and my birthday is June 9th. My favourite colour is pink and my favourite animals are whales. My favourite foods are chicken dishes (especially chicken soup) and sweet things. I'm a bit of a tomboy and I'm a hard worker. I work administratively in the indie video game industry. I'm logistical so I find the work very engaging. It's been an interesting, innovative and exciting career path.

I enjoy Cosplaying (as you can tell) and attending Anime/scifi conventions. I love the atmosphere and excitement of going to conventions and the ability to act out the role of another through Cosplay is always a blast. I consider myself a dreamer who would much rather cling to my childhood than grow up. I think the chance to escape from the social norms and roles that Cosplay allows has a lot of appeal.

In my teen and young adult years, I really loved watching and reading a variety of Anime/Manga. Some of my favourites were Sailor Moon, the Vision of Escaflowne, Hellsing, Big O, Madoka Magica, Inuyasha and +Anima. Now that I'm a little older, I prefer to watch media from the west that's more popular culture such as series like Westworld, The Boys, What We Do in the Shadows, Preacher, Peacemaker, Penny Dreadful and Ash vs Evil Dead. I especially love horror and horror comedy tv series and movies. I don't really watch or read Anime or Manga anymore, but I do still look back fondly on the series I enjoyed in my youth.

I have an ever growing love for Playstation games and most of my favourites are all from the horror genre. I love all the Silent Hill games, the Batman Arkham series, the Resident Evil franchise, Lollipop Chainsaw, the Horizon game series and Dead Space.

My favourite movies are Back to the Future, Men In Black, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Star Trek (2009), Jurassic Park and The Other Guys. I tend to like horror, superhero and fantasy films, but I also have a soft spot for all things Disney. In addition, I'm a big Disney World fan!

I absolutely adore the holiday and the season of Halloween. I've grown up loving it because I like creepy things and the paranormal and I think Cosplay is an extension of my love for the holiday as it lets me dress up more often than on one day of the year.

Of course, my greatest love is spending time with my friends. Over the years I've developed a strong bond with a number of people who attend conventions in the Toronto area. I don't know where I would be or what I would have done without my wonderful group of friends who are always there to support me and lend me a hand when I need it. :D
